The addition was designed to respect the original turn-of-the-century Virginia farmhouse yet make a fresh statement for a modern family lifestyle. Exterior materials and roof pitches on the addition repeat those on the original house.

The family room, featured on the cover of Better Homes & Gardens ‘Additions’ guidebook, was designed with sloping ceilings, exposed roof trusses, and skylights to brighten the interior.
